Will X Factor Be Won By A Group This Year?
So the all conquering X Factor is upon us for another year and a bating clan of showbiz hopefuls have been whittled down to 16 acts by the judges. As usual we are left with an assorted bunch of misfits with varying degrees of personality disorder. As usual the public have been incensed by the judges choices, Cheryl Cole received particularly bad press.
Everyone’s favourite Girls Aloud escapee was criticized for putting through two acts, Katie Waissel and Cher Llyod that were widely thought to be complete talentless duds, in all fairness their vocal talents were clearly lacking, evident to even the most tone deaf non-music lover. What most of the public don’t realize however is that the X Factor is not just about who has the best voice, its about who the judges can market and milk for cash.
So of the current crop, who is looking likely to win. The hard-to-pin down Katie made an exit last Sunday, due in part to her poor song choice, FYD also walked out the door, their zany look not being enough to save them from the judges wrath. This means the most successful judges, Cole and Cowell, have each lost an act.
Nevertheless, despite being already down to two acts, groups is a solid category with the boyish fresh faced good looks of one direction competing against the multi talented Bell Amie 18th birthday gifts, in fact they probably all believe in Santa and will be looking forward to getting their stocking fillers this year. Bell Amie are also knocking on the door after a long drought for girl bands on the show.
At this stage, it is hard to narrow down a victor but I will say expect something different this year. If I had to whittle down my three favourites I’d go for Cher Llyod, purely on the basis that she can rap, Aiden for his unique style and Matt for his pure vocal range. Who ever wins this year certainly won’t be giving people Christmas gift ideas!
